NOTE: We'll periodically update this page with new information when we have it.
Unfortunately, we have run into a supply chain issue that is delaying our production of the Tie-Dyed Braided Cable by a few weeks. I am truly bummed and I have sought every possible solution to avoid this. More importantly, this is not an acceptable level of customer obsession for which I strive to maintain with our customers (both existing and new).
Let me provide some background on what happened:
To make this product, we use a white 5/16” military-grade multifilament nylon overbraid from Techflex that slides over the cable after it is dyed. This process must be done separately - a cable with the sheath already braided over it simply won't work due to the need to apply heat to allow the synthetic fibers to absorb the dye.
Shortly after we launched the product, we were notified by Techflex that the specific size and color of this item was out of stock and it would be several weeks until more is available (due to a supplier issue on their side). This has rarely - if ever - happened before.
What resulted was a domino effect that ended with us currently not having enough overbraid to fill orders as we quickly went through what we had on hand. This also triggered a search across the globe to find more. We were able to acquire an additional spool from Techflex in the Netherlands two weeks ago, but it was used up almost immediately. At the same time, we tested 5-6 other overbraids (not from Techflex) to try and find a suitable alternative. I was confident we had found one, but after making several cables with it, we determined it just didn’t meet our standards.
This morning, Techflex let me know that they expect to have more overbraid available by mid-April. They are also sending me samples of alternatives from their product line to do further testing. If we are successful with one of those, we will immediately ramp up production and begin shipping orders again.
We are in the process of notifying customers that have recently placed orders but have not received them and providing appropriate options, inculding issuing full refunds.
This leaves customers seeking to purchase this product with two options: 1) You can go ahead and place your order now. - it will be placed into the queue and produced in line with other orders; or, 2) I would encourage you to sign up for email updates (look for link in the footer at the bottom of this page) and we will let you know as soon as we are once again producing tie-dyed cables.
It's my hope that we will quickly be back up and running with this product. Thank you for your patience, and please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
